The reliability (internal consistency, alternate form, and test-retest) and validity (concurrent and discriminant) of the state and trait versions of Set 1(lists A, B, C, D) of the Depression Adjective Check Lists (DACL) were studied in an elderly sample (N= 338).Reliability and validity estimates for both versions were sufficiently high so as to recommend their use in research with the elderly. Suggestions for further study are mentioned.
